China's tourism industry has developed rapidly and gradually become a new growth pole of the national economy in recent years.Especially after the "13th Five-Year Plan " proposed to train tourism as an important driving force for economic transformation and upgrading,the regions have established tourism industry as the focus,the tourism competition is becoming increasingly fierce.However,due to the differences in geographical location,socio-economic and resource endowments in different regions,the development of tourism industry is in an unbalanced state,and there is no healthy competition order between the regions.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to conduct an effective measurement study on the competitiveness of tourism industry in various regions of China,and to explore the differences between the regional tourism industry and the evolvement of time and space evolution to enhance the competitiveness of China's overall tourism industry.This thesis adopts the PROMETHEE evaluation method,and takes 31 provinces and cities in China as the research object.This paper constructs a tourism industry competitiveness evaluation index system including four dimensions:basic competitiveness,market competitiveness,sustainable competitiveness and explicit competitiveness,which bases on the concept,theory and literature of tourism industry competitiveness,also,this paper uses the entropy weight method to determine the weight of each evaluation index.Secondly,the PROMETHE-GAIA method is used to evaluate the competitiveness of China's provincial tourism industry in 2016.Finally,based on the evaluation results of the tourism industry competitiveness level of 31 provinces in China from 2005 to 2016 wchich useing the PROMETHEE method,also,using the Kernel density function and spatial autocorrelation to explore the temporal and spatial pattern evolution of tourism industry development in China's various provinces at four regional levels and four major competitiveness dimensions.Mainly got the following conclusions:First,China's tourism industry remains imbalance state which was stronger in east and weaker in west in 2016.Zhejiang,Guangdong and Jiangsu performed best,Chongqing,Guangxi and Henan were in medium,and Gansu,Qinghai and Ningxia were the weakest;Second,the Kernel density indicated that the overall competitiveness of China's tourism industry was on the rise from 2005 to 2016,and there was a gap between the provinces but the gap was narrowing.However,from a regional perspective,the western and eastern provinces'gap between the two was expanding,and the eastern and northeastern regions were rapidly shrinking;Third,the spatial autocorrelation overall Moran's I showed that in 2005-2016,China's provinces had shown obvious aggregation effects in terms of market competitiveness,sustainable competitiveness,external competitiveness and comprehensive competitiveness.The stronger provinces and the weaker competitive provinces tend to be adjacent,respectively,and there is a clear Matthew effect,but the basic competitiveness was relatively dispersed;The spatial autocorrelation local Moran's I showed that the spatial distribution of each province's market competitiveness,sustainable competitiveness,explicit competitiveness and comprehensive competitiveness is uneven.And the competitiveness of the tourism industry in the eastern coastal provinces had formed a relatively obvious HH-type continuous area in space,also,most of the western and northeastern provinces are in the LL-type accumulation area,which showed obvious polarization.The main contribution of this paper is:tentatively adopting a new evaluation method-PROMETHEE method to visually analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the development of tourism industry in each province and the similarity between provinces,which enriches the evaluation method of tourism industry competitiveness;further,useing the Kernel density of non-parametric estimation and the spatial autocorrelation Moran's I to explore the temporal and spatial evolution of China's tourism industry competitiveness from four regional and four competitive dimensions based on the Phi value of the spatial panel data calculated by the PROMETHEE method,which makes us grasp the status quo of China's tourism industry competitiveness development and future development trends;Finally,based on the results of empirical analysis,it proposes a series of policy recommendations to grasp the multidimensional requirements of tourism industry development,promote the coordinated development of inter-regional tourism industry,and optimize the regional tourism cooperation mechanism.
