Measurements And Influencing Factors Analysis Of The Intra-industry Trade In Manufacturing Industries Among BRICS Countries

As one of the most important multilateral cooperation mechanisms as well as political and economic entities,BRICS takes a quarter of the total economic aggregate on the whole world's basis hitherto.Meanwhile,BRICS' contributive rate of the world economy has been over 50%.All the aforementioned accomplishments have shown a steady and positive development state as well as an outstanding status concerning the globalisation trend.Among bilateral and multilateral trade patterns,manufacturing industries,as one of the fundamental industries which acts as an important part to influence national welfare and people's livelihood,undoubtedly,holds an increasingly importance and plays an indispensable role in a country's economic system due to the fact that deepening the degree of intra-industry trade in manufacturing can reduce costs while making trade profits,develop economies of scale and increase the utility level of consumers.In this thesis,to start with,the developmental level and trade conditions of BRICS' manufacturing industries are analysed and the products they are trading with each other are classified.Then the Trade Dependency Index is introduced to calculate the closeness levels in manufacturing industries of the five countries.From China's perspective,the commonly-used trade indexes-G-L Index-to calculate the intra-industry trade of manufacturing industries between China and other BRICS countries quantitatively is selected,from which major characteristics can be summarised.To a further extent,some influential factors both macroscopically and microscopically are concluded.The suggestions consist of enhancing FDI,adjusting the pattern of manufacturing production,promoting the process of regionalisation as well as encouraging cultural communication,the purpose of which is to give play to the comparative advantages of BRICS countries in order to motivate the intra-industry manufacturing trade.Eventually,by all the analyses and research above,targeted ideas and acting points are to be placed upon multilateral trade activities among BRICS.
