| With the advent of the user empowerment era,engaging users in the technological innovation process of enterprises has become an option for many enterprises to improve their innovation performance.At the same time,the role of the absorptive capacity of enterprises in technological innovation of enterprises has also attracted the attention of more and more scholars.Although many scholars started to pay attention to the importance of user participation in the technological innovation of enterprises,most studies focus on whether user participation affects the technological innovation performance of enterprises.There is little discussion about the intrinsic role of user participation in influencing technological innovation performance of enterprises.Few scholars have paid attention to the fact that the impact of user participation on the technological innovation performance of enterprises also depends on the company’s knowledge absorptive capacity.Based on Information Stickiness Theory,Resource Fundamental Theory,Knowledge Creation Theory,and Organizational Learning Theory,this paper divides user participation into three dimensions:information resources,partners,and user innovation,and divides the technological innovation performance of enterprises into three dimensions:product performance,market performance,and financial performance in order to thoroughly study the different impacts of different dimensions of user participation on the technological innovation performance of enterprises.This paper also introduces absorptive capacity as a moderator variable to study how absorptive capacity moderates the impact of user participation on technological innovation performance of enterprises in order to further explore the internal influence mechanism of user participation on technological innovation performance of enterprises.On this basis,the collected 273 questionnaires were used to empirically test the effect of user participation on the technological innovation performance of enterprises and the moderating effect of knowledge absorptive capacity on the relationship between the two.The research results show that first,information resources positively influence market performance,which shows that enterprises need to pay close attention to users’use and demand information and establish correct R&D orientation for technological innovation of enterprises.Second,partners positively influence the various dimensions of technological innovation performance of enterprises,which indicates that enterprises should give full play to the positive role of cooperation with users.Third,user innovation positively influences product performance and market performance,indicating that users with strong independent R&D capabilities can help enterprises improve their technological innovation performance and enterprises need to give full play to the positive role of user independent innovation.Fourth,the positive effect of information resources on product performance and financial performance failed to pass empirical test,which may be because the unilateral demand and use of environmental information from the user are not sufficient to directly enhance the performance of technology products and financial performance of enterprises.Enterprises need to have sufficient ability to correctly identify this information.Fifth,The positive effect of user innovation on financial performance failed to pass empirical test,which may be due to certain limitations in the survey sample itself;Sixth,absorptive capacity positively moderates the relationship between user participation and technological innovation performance of enterprises.This shows that for companies with higher knowledge absorptive capacity,user participation has a stronger positive impact on technological innovation performance. |
