The emergence and development of Internet technology has given the world more possibilities.Social network provides a new platform for people's presentation of self.Convenient, timely and rich forms of social interaction and expression bring people new social experience. With the popularity of social networks, the privacy issues about social networks are increasingly prominent.People who used social network hope to express themselves,so as to meet the desire and social expectation of self-expression.They want to create a perfect social image through impression management, and to constantly construct self-identity.However,in the process of the presentation of self, intentional or unintentional information brings about the possibility of privacy violation, even the privacy data that is not actively disclosed will be used: the privacy data may be used by illegal elements and become the source of information for fraud;human flesh search gathers the fragmented information, making the privacy of social network users in an awkward position. With the development of data mining and big data technology, people have become "transparent people" : social media sell privacy data for the purpose of interests, and privacy data becomes a commodity with commercial value for sale and secondary use;privacy data stored in the cloud has not been sold, but may face hacker attacks. This paper intends to explore the presentation of self and privacy dilemma in social networks based on Goffman 'Drama Theory. In the self presentation of social networks, for the purposes of self-disclosure,self construction and impression management, people display their idea impression through the front region and take their privacy in the back-stage.In an ideal social network performance, the boundary between the front region and the back-stage is clear and controllable, and the privacy information in backstage is protected. But in social networks, because of the characteristics of social media, the boundaries of performances are constantly melting, the communication scenes and the roles are more complex, where people are more inclined to show private information. These reasons make the protection of personal privacy meet a great challenge, forming " backstage difficulties ",which means back-stage can not be effectively controlled by performers. In view of the above research on the phenomenon that people lose control of privacy protection in the process of using social networks for the presentation of self, this paper attempts to discuss the value and significance of drama theory for understanding the problem of loss of privacy protection in social networks, and to draw people's attention to the privacy problems accompanying the process of the presentation of self of social networks,so as to make suggestions for the privacy protection of social networks.
