Power amplifier is an important part of microwave and millimeter wave communication system.Traveling wave power amplification technology has been widely applied in practical engineering due to its advantages of frequency bandwidth and compact structure.In this paper,the research and design of Ka-band traveling wave power synthetic amplifier with high performance and wide band can be carried out in the light of the current situation at home and abroad.First,through the research and analysis of the electromagnetic band gap structure,the Ka band electromagnetic band gap structure is analyzed and designed by the waveguide transmission method and the dispersion analysis method.The simulation results show that the band gap of the electromagnetic band gap structure is 21-58GHz,which can cover the entire Ka band.Second,based on the analyse of micostrip probe travelling wave power of distribution network,a power E-Y branch waveguide distribution network based on synthesis,physical processing test results show that the in band 26.5-37.5GHz,the return loss is better than-14dB,the insertion loss is about 2.5dB.Again,put forward a kind of traveling wave type power distribution/combining network based on the ridge gap waveguide,coupling unit with ridge probe structure realizes the advantages integration processing,to solve the traditional microstrip probe coupling unit on the assembly requirements and the high physical processing test results show that this kind of structure in the whole frequency range of Ka,the return loss is better than-15dB,insertion loss of back to back structure less than 1.2dB,the combined efficiency is more than 85%,with good broadband characteristics.Finally,the design of active network on Ka band power combining amplifier,power amplifier and assembly to form a complete,practical test results show that the maximum output power of power amplifier 1,5W is designed in this paper,power amplifier designed in this paper has a broad application prospect.
