As art is the discipline foundation of art education,the change of art must cause the change of art education.The unique advantages of contemporary art in the development of critical thinking and innovative thinking have been recognized by more and more experts and scholars.At the same time,primary school is the peak of students' imagination and creative development,so it is essential to integrate contemporary art into primary school art education.The purpose of this study is to understand the practical integration of contemporary art into art education in primary schools.This study firstly analyzes the meaning and characteristics of contemporary art,and summarizes the characteristics of contemporary art from five aspects: using diversified art representation strategies,breaking through the limitation of creative media and art categories,blurring the boundary between art and life,highlighting the ideological values behind works,and showing social care and social functions.Combined with the above characteristics,this paper discusses the necessity of integrating contemporary art into art education in primary schools.Secondly,by using the content analysis method,this paper studies the advantages and disadvantages of the contemporary art-related content in the arts textbook of elementary school published by Jiangsu Education Press.Again,through the questionnaire survey and interviews to understand the teacher's understanding of contemporary art and education value and related education practice,and combining the teaching of contemporary art design with classroom teaching to analyze the teaching status quo of contemporary art,this paper summed up the existing problems of teaching and the teachers' ideas about merging contemporary art into primary school art education,including: there is little contemporary art capacity and lack of representative works in textbooks;some teachers equate contemporary art with modern art,"can't understand" art,"judge the ugly" art and Western art,and also lack the initiative to dig and expand textbooks in depth;the hardware facilities and class hours of the school are insufficient.In view of the above problems,this study suggests: first of all,textbooks should give priority to the selection of "classic" works in contemporary art,and and further diversify the compilation team of textbooks,so as to ensure the quality and level of contemporary art content.Secondly,teachers should be open-minded and take the initiative to meet the "challenge" of contemporary art,and relevant in-service training and pre-service education also need to be increased.At the same time,the author gives some suggestions on teaching objectives,teaching content and teaching design,and enumerates the frame of contemporary art teaching that can be used for reference.
