With the rapid development of computational technology,it has become an inevitable trend to integrate modern information technology into physics classes and optimize classroom teaching structure.As a sort of dynamic mathematics software,the GeoGebra software has attracted the attention of physics educators at home and abroad in recent years due to its characteristics of open-source,free,easy to operate and full-featured.At the same time,as a kind of effective teaching method,the physical modeling instruction has been widely used in western countries.The latest Physical Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017)formulated by the Ministry of Education of China also includes the awareness and ability of modeling in the scientific thinking of the key competencies of physics,emphasizing the importance of the construction and application of physical models to the development of students’ key competencies.Therefore,it is of practical significance to discuss the practicability of applying the GeoGebra software to the physical modeling instruction,and to explore the pedagogic strategies of the GeoGebra software to enhance the physical modeling instruction.This study conducts a series of theoretical discussions and practical research on the employment of GeoGebra for the physical modeling instruction in senior high school.The main work is as follows.First of all,this paper studies and analyzes the theories and viewpoints of domestic and foreign scholars on physical models and modeling instruction,in order to determine the definition of physical models and the general steps of modeling instruction.What’s more,based on the constructivist learning theory and the scaffold teaching theory,the role of GeoGebra in the physics classes is determined and the framework for the application of GeoGebra in high school physical modeling instruction is set.Secondly,this study investigated the current situation of the understanding of the physical model and modeling abilities of 60 senior students in the form of questionnaires and tests,in order to provide a basis for putting forward effective strategies for GeoGebra-aided physical modeling instruction.Based on the investigation above,this paper discusses the applicability of GeoGebra software in physics modeling instruction in senior high school,and then puts forward the combination points of GeoGebra and physical modeling instruction from four aspects,which are simulation of physical situations,visualization of physical models,dynamic presentation of physical models and mathematical analysis of physical models,with specific application strategies and teaching cases given.Finally,based on the general steps of modeling instruction,this study designs a lesson plan on Force Synthesis assisted by GeoGebra,and carries out teaching practice for 30 senior high school students.As a comparison,another 30 students were selected to conduct modeling instruction on the same teaching content using traditional teaching methods.By observing the students’ feedback in class,conducting after-school tests and questionnaire surveys,this study analyzes the effectiveness of GeoGebra-aided physical modeling instruction and students’ acceptance of the GeoGebra software.
