The Influence Of The Marriage Quality Of Elderly Couples On The Stability Of Marriage

In recent years,the divorce rate of Chinese has been increasing,this phenomenon also exits in the elderly group.With the advent of Chinese aging,the marriage of the older people has gained more and more attention,resulting in the phenomenon of unstable marriage.From the perspective of a single marriage,marital stability refers to the attitude and continuous confidence of both parties in the marriage relationship,that is,whether they have ever had the idea of divorce,which is a subjective concept.Marriage quality refers to the perceptual understanding and experience of the parties to the marriage.Research shows that marriage quality is an important factor affecting the stability of marriage.There are many combination types,including high quality and high stability,high quality and low stability,low quality and high stability,and low quality and low stability.The marriage commitment reflects the confidence of both parties in maintaining the marriage relationship,which is embodied in the emotional,psychological and behavioral investment and identification of both parties,as well as the assumption of the responsibilities and obligations involved in the marriage.The investment model shows that relationship commitment acts as an mediating factor to influence relationship quality and relationship stability.Based on the model of Actor-partner interdependence model,this study discusses the influence of marital quality on marital stability of elderly couples,and investigates the mediating role of marital commitment,and discusses which dimension of marital commitment plays a role.A total of 211 elderly couples were selected from tianjin community and asked to complete demographic information questionnaire,marital stability,marital quality and marital commitment scale.This study draws the following conclusions: First,he higher the economic income and communication frequency of husband and wife,the higher their marriage quality.Second,the higher the economic income,educational level and communication frequency of the husband and wife,the higher the marital stability.Three,the higher the economic income,educational level and communication frequency of the husband and wife,the higher the level of commitment to the spouse.Four,the higher the frequency of communication between husband and wife,the higher the level of commitment to the marriage.Five,both husband and wife’s own marriage quality can significantly predict their own marriage stability,there is a subject effect;The marital quality of the husband can significantly predict the marital stability of the wife,with object effect,while the marital quality of the wife cannot predict the marital stability of the husband,that is,there is no significant object effect.Six,both husband and wife,theircommitment to their spouse partly mediates the influence of marriage quality on marriage stability,that is,there is a subject effect;However,there is no mediating effect,that is,there is no object effect,on the effect of one’s commitment to the spouse on the other’s marital quality and marital stability.
