In recent years,with the deepening of education reform,the proportion of open-ended problems in chemical test questions has increased,and scholars have more and more in-depth research on open-ended problem solving.Some scholars focus on the influencing factors of chemical open-ended problem solving,and some focus on the teaching strategies of chemical open-ended problem solving.However,there are few researches focus on the open-ended problem solving ability of the teaching subject students.What abilities do students have in solving the problem of chemical openness? In this study,through questionnaire and interview to understand students' open-ended problem solving situation,clarify the ability elements of open-ended problem solving,and provide reference for the research of chemical open-ended problem solving ability.Firstly,this study reviews the literature related to the research topic,and defines the concepts related to the problem solving ability of chemical openness.Secondly,according to the needs of the study,the open-ended problem solving ability questionnaire was developed.Then,319 students from 6 classes in grade one of 2 senior high schools in Shandong Province are selected as the research objects,and the open-ended problem-solving ability questionnaire is used to carry out the measurement and analysis:(1)Analyze the questionnaire measurement situation,correct and assign the questionnaire response,use SPSS21.0 for data processing,and select the scope of the interviewee;(2)Based on the investigation of learning situation of 14 interviewees and the recommendation of teachers,8 students who are good at answering and expressing open-ended questions are selected.According to the outline of open-ended questions interview,the semi-structured interview is conducted to 8 students,and the process of solving open-ended questions is discussed.The recording materials are converted into oral reports;(3)Analyze the oral report materials and extract the ability elements of chemical open problem solving.Finally,the conclusion of the study is summarized and the teaching suggestions are put forward.The research shows that:(1)The open problem solving ability of chemistry is a multi-dimensional comprehensive ability.The solution of open-ended problems in chemistry includes four stages: discovering facts,discovering problems,putting forward ideas,and scientific arguments.Different stages show different abilities,the stage of discovering facts reflects the ability of scientific explanation,the stage of discovering problems shows the ability to discover scientific problems,the stage of suggesting ideas shows the ability to propose scientific solutions,and the stage of scientific demonstration shows the ability of scientific argument.The ability of scientific explanation,the ability to discover scientific problems,the ability to propose scientific solutions,and the ability to demonstrate science together constitute the ability to solve open-ended problems in chemistry;(2)The ability to propose scientific solutions is the core ability to solve open-ended problems.The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in:(1)the questionnaire of open-ended problem solving ability is developed,which provides a new tool for future research;(2)the elements of open-ended problem solving ability are put forward,which provides a new basis for further research on open-ended problem solving ability.
