forefront of innovative countries and become a world power in science and technology. To build a world power requires a large number of scientific and technological personnel.Today’s high school students are the builders of the country’s future. Therefore,it is particularly important to enhance the scientific literacy of high school students through school education. This paper studies the cultivation of high school students’ emotions, attitudes and values from the perspective of extracurricular experiments in order to find out the effects of extracurricular experimental courses on improving high school students’ emotional attitudes and values and make up for the shortcomings of this kind of research.Study 1 aims to understand the status of high school students’ scientific literacy and analyze existing problems.A questionnaire survey was conducted to the entire Grade One of Jiaxiang Foreign Language School in Chengdu.Questionnaires were entered, collated, counted and analyzed using Excel and SPSS data statistics software.Through the SPSS software, the students’ three dimensions(scientific knowledge, scientific methods, emotional attitudes and values)are statistically described and analyzed, and the average score and standard deviation of each dimension are obtained. In general,it is found that the scientific literacy of high school students needs to be improved, especially the cultivation of emotions, attitudes and values. The gender and departmentalization impacts on the scientific literacy of the students have been tested. It is found that because the subjects are Senior One students, the differences caused by the two factors are not significant. In summary, through data and theoretical analysis,it is found that there are still some problems in cultivating students’ scientific literacy: students’ scientific methods and attitudes are not ideal;students lack the initiative to explore the scientific phenomena in life;teachers have not enough awareness to let emotional attitudes and values permeate experimental activities;schools lack attention to experimental classes.Based on the analysis of the above problems, combined with the characteristics of students and the actual conditions, the second study was carried out, hoping to promote the development of students’ emotional attitudes and values through the development of extracurricular experimental courses.Study 2 aims to achieve the purpose of cultivating students’ emotions, attitudes and values through the establishment of extracurricular experimental courses. The experimental study was also conducted in Jiaxiang Foreign Language School in Chengdu, and 60 Senior One students were randomly selected. These 60 students were in various levels in the scientific literacy test, and 30 students were identified as subjects in the experimental classes.Another 30 students were identified as members of the control class.Experiments in the experimental and control groups were conducted, and emotions, attitudes and values were incorporated in the actual course.Through the analysis of relevant data, the conclusions were drawn as follows: the differences in emotions, attitudes and values between the experimental group and the control group before the experiment were not significant(P >0.05),and significant differences between the two groups emerged in the post-experimental test(P<0.05).The study found that the development of extracurricular experiments did have a positive impact on improving the emotions, attitudes and values of high school students. On the basis of Study 1 and Study 2,Including the training strategy of knowledge and action combing together, the training strategy of experience-oriented,the training strategy of the combination of observation and evaluation, the training strategy of active construction.Teachers should improve their understanding of emotions, attitudes and values education, extensively involve experimental knowledge in related fields at home and abroad, and have a reasonable curriculum design for extracurricular experiments. They can add a large number of inquiry experiments and open experiments, and guide students to do manual and intellectual work in experiments so that their emotions, attitudes and values can be developed. It also has a reasonable evaluation of the emotions, attitudes and values formed by students during the experiment. The school’s cultivation of students’ scientific literacy should be implemented with specific educational concepts, through using their own resources, increasing investment in laboratory construction, attaching importance to extracurricular experiments, inspiring teachers of various disciplines to participate in experimental research, creating colorful and extracurricular experimental activities for students to create conditions and opportunities. | Keywords/Search Tags: | emotions, attitudes and values, extracurricular experiments, scientific literacy
