Since the development of animation film and television industry in 1920s,three animation country with their own characteristics,the United States,Japan and China,have experienced various stages of enlightenment,development and blooming period.Under the background of social development in different times,thousands of excellent animation works have been created,accompanied by the growth of generations.The main audience of animation is children,and it is also a supplement of spiritual culture in the process of children's growth.Schramm,an American communication scholar,once proposed that children are active information demanders,not isolated and selected individuals.Children choose appropriate media content according to their own needs and emotional characteristics.Animation carriers in media images can provide all kinds of information needed by children.Children's watching animated cartoons is not only the need of entertainment,but also the need of cognitive development and communication.Therefore,animation is an important carrier in the period of children's socialization,and it has important significance for children's socialization development.In the 1980s,with the further development of China's economy and science and technology,mass communication and information technology are becoming more and more popular,and animation has become an important part of mass media.Meanwhile,with the implementation of China's reform and opening-up policy in the 1980s,a large number of foreign animations were introduced into China,making the post-80s and post-90s groups of China the first beneficiaries of animation culture,which can be achieved in childhood.Through TV and film carriers,we can not only see Chinese local animation works,but also watch excellent animation works from various countries,absorb different cultures and knowledge,among which American and Japanese animation are prominent.This paper will compare and analyze the animation works of different countries(the United States,Japan,China)in the same period from 1980s to 1990s,study the social significance behind animation,and the social impact of animation works born under different social cultures on Chinese children audience groups,so as to further explore the significance of animation for children's social development.
