Primary and secondary school teachers play an active role in teaching practices bearing the responsibility for imparting knowledge and cultivating students.They are key to the quality of education,and in the new era the development of basic education relies on quality teaching staff.The cultivation of in-service Master of Education(Ed.M.)is an important part in teacher professional development,but the traditional training model featuring single training subject and single training venue separates the theories and practices.The learners are faced with various interference from outside,and it is difficult for them to combine teaching with theory leaning detached from teaching experience,which is detrimental to the acquisition of problem-solving skill and continuous leaning skill.The lack of government's and schools' roles in the process of training leads to unsatisfactory training result,and these parties,acting as onlookers,come to criticize the result.By analyzing the problems in the current on-service Ed.M.training,this study summarizes a training mode from the perspective of "U-G-S"referring to the training practice in S University in Shanghai,China,and thus propose suggestions for optimizing the training result.This study has four parts:Chapter 1 is introduction,including research background,scheme,methodology,theoretical background,literature review and so forth.In this study,data are collected by interview,questionnaire,text analysis,etc.Chapter 2 introduces the background and problems of in-service Ed.M.training.The background can be divided into three levels from macro to micro,that is,policy background,profession background and learner's background.And then by comparing the training modes in China's exemplary normal universities,it can be pointed out that the problems lie in the detachment between theory and practice,supply and demand.Chapter 3 analyzes the recent training practices in S University in Shanghai,China.From direction and objective,curriculum and teaching,training form and procedure,there are four features:1)emphasis on the particularity of adult learning;2)combination with non-diploma teacher training;3)comprehensiveness of learning contents;4)diversity of training subjects.Based on the analysis of S University,Chapter 4 summarizes the on-service Ed.M.training mode from the perspective of "U-G-S" and proposes its three features:1)practice-oriented curriculum setting;2)combination with non-diploma teacher training;3)value orientation featuring openness and mutual benefit.On the basis of above discussion,this study claims that this training mode should insist on the direction of centering teacher development,emphasize on the syntheses of training subjects,and put priority to international communication and cooperation.
