Research On The Peer Group Support Group Of Retired Young People In Urban Communities

At present,China is faced with a serious problem of population aging.The number of the younger elderly in our country will reach 210 million by 2030,according to the China’s aging blue book.The young old are a great social asset.They have just retired from their jobs and are in good health,with good intelligence and cognitive ability.In addition,they have rich life experience and social experience.However,many studies focus on the older elderly,sick elderly and rural elderly,ignoring the group of the younger elderly.These people also need emotional care and respect.Providing for the aged is not only about having enough food and clothing,but also about accompanying the elderly to ensure their spiritual prosperity.But due to the fierce competition in today’s society,the increasingly core family structure and the inter-generational inclination,the family support for the elderly is becoming weaker and weaker,and the elderly need to seek more support to meet their own development.Therefore,the peer support among the young elderly is especially important.Because this kind of support can help them make a smooth transition to the advanced life stage,reducing the generation of all kinds of negative events in this stage.The thesis interviewed the young retirees in L community from the perspectives of peer support intensity and peer support effect,so as to understand the current situation of their peer group support.According to this situation,analyze the problems in the process of obtaining peer support.Through questionnaires,the actual situation of peer group support needs of young retirees in L community was investigated and analyzed from the three aspects of emotional support needs,respect support needs and security support needs,so as to conduct demand assessment.At the same time,I combined social support theory and group dynamics theory to design the group activity program.This study is carried out in the logical order of breaking the ice,further understanding,correctly knowing oneself,enhancing self-confidence,establishing friendship,recognizing the importance of the collective and establishing peer support within the group,and finally consolidating peer support.In the evaluation stage,process assessment and effectiveness assessment were carried out on the group through social worker interview,observation,satisfaction survey and so on.Through this study,I found that the professional social work method--group work method,which involves the target group,has obvious advantages in building community peer group support for the young elderly,but also has certain disadvantages and limitations.And I believes that the farnily plays an irreplaceable role in providing for the aged.We should not neglect the importance of family affection while building the network of peer support for the aged and improving their social support.Family stability is conducive to peer communication.On the contrary,benign peer communication can also help the elderly face family more peacefully and promote their relationship with family.
