Why It Is: A Study Of New China's Diplomatic Stance On International Hotspot Issues

How People's Republic of China makes diplomatic gestures on international hotspot issues is a topic worth researching.The thesis will try to summarize the special ideas that China bears when making “diplomatic gestures” and the logic behind it through an in-depth analysis of the three levels of China's making of diplomatic gestures;at the same time,the thesis makes a vertical comparison of the making of diplomatic gestures between P.R.C.and China in history,and a horizontal comparison of that between China and major western countries,represented by the United States.The thesis divides China's making of diplomatic gestures into three levels.First,the diplomatic institutions and relevant personnel need to declare their attitudes on international hotspot issues through internal discussions.The standard of their judgement are the rights and wrongs of the issues themselves,based on the UN Charter,the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests.The standards and principles when judging what kind of diplomatic gestures should be made are consistent and will not be diverted by ideology or the international situation.Second,diplomatic institutions and relevant personnel should also consider the discourse when making diplomatic gestures.While they adhere to the principles,there exist differences in their expressions and content,according to the degree of importance of international hotspot issues,the international situation and the relationships with the countries concerned.Third,normally,diplomatic institutions and relevant personnel should also provide solutions to international hotspot issues and explanations to the international community.In order to make a clear analysis,the thesis sorts out the cases of China's making of diplomatic gestures in history on the vertical dimension,and sums up the principles it followed.The making of diplomatic gestures on the conflicts between Annam and Champa Kingdom by the central government in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty is used as an object of study.In accordance with the result of the case study,the thesis analyzes the inheritance and transcendence of P.R.C.'s making of diplomatic gestures on the basis of China in history.Meanwhile,the thesis uses the “Suez Canal Crisis” as an example on the horizontal dimension,and analyzes the making of diplomatic gestures of China and that of the U.S.,in order to further deepen the understanding of China's special ideas behind its making of diplomatic gestures through comparison.It can be seen from the analysis that China's making of diplomatic gestures has helped maintain world peace and development,and promoted international fairness and justice;meanwhile,it also helps China win wide praise.Currently,as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,China's making of diplomatic gestures will surely achieve more achievements and make more contributions to national development and world peace.
