The relationship between China and South Korea is an important bilateral relationship in Northeast Asia.The two sides have jointly walked through the "honeymoon period" of mutual benefit and reciprocity,and also experienced a "freezing period" with clear barriers.Facts have proved that the bilateral relations between China and South Korea are not only related to the development of the two countries,but also to the security and global stability and prosperity of Northeast Asia.Under such circumstances,it is necessary to use a new concept and thinking to open up and build a relationship that is conducive to bilateral relations.The path of conscience circulation and stable development.As a new thing in the 1990 s,public diplomacy has an irreplaceable important role in breaking through the predicament and rebuilding trust between China and South Korea with its many advantages of facing the people and two-way interaction.This paper studies China-ROK relations from the perspective of public diplomacy,and selects one of the most important forms of public diplomacy in China and South Korea-the Confucius Institute as a typical case for analysis.The first part theoretically analyzes the definition of public diplomacy and the rational use of public diplomacy will help to enhance China’s cultural influence,help the world’s countries to correctly and accurately understand China,and help strengthen the recognition of China’s countries.And starting from the advantages of public diplomacy,analyzing the rational use of public diplomacy,will be able to effectively construct the economic,trade,cultural and security relations between China and South Korea;the second part combs the current status of China-ROK relations from the perspective of public diplomacy From a macro perspective,the dilemma of Sino-Korean relations lies in the fragility of political security cooperation and the interference of extraterritorial powers,as well as their own strong nationalist sentiments.They have microscopically summarized the rich and colorful developments of China and South Korea in recent years.The third part takes the important public diplomacy of the Confucius Institute as an example.It explains the advantages and functions of the Confucius Institute in the public diplomacy activities of China and South Korea from the language promotion and cultural and artistic activities of the Confucius Institute.Discussed how the Confucius Institute as an effective public diplomacy can play a leading role in the follow-up,how to maximize the development of China-ROK relations in a good direction.Finally,the analysis of public diplomacy in the diplomatic system with Chinese characteristics enables public diplomacy to cooperate with overall diplomacy and play a greater role in enabling the two sides to build mutual trust and build a new type of relationship between the two countries that will bring prosperity and cooperation to the peoples.
