Research On The Development Of The French National Front From The Perspective Of Party Institutionalization

The rise of the far-right political forces has becoming a major political event in European society at present.It has had a multi-level impact on the traditional European political and social order.Among the far-right forces,the French Front National was always in the limelight.Taking the Front National as an example,this dissertation explores the institutionalization of the party from three aspects,which include the leadership,the organizational evolution and the ideology,whose institutionalization level provide a perspective to observe the context and trends of its evolution and its impact on the traditional institutionalism.This dissertation argues that there is tension between the authoritarian leadership of the National Front and its institutionalization process.The authoritarian leader is the key factor for the rise and development of the national front,but the personal prestige of the leader is often above the political party,causing the internal contradiction with the institutionalization.Secondly,the system of the Front National is a combination of centralized integration and absorption-expansion.The organizational structure of the national front is pyramidal,and its power operation direction is also top-down.But it also has a dynamic contraction mechanism that constantly absorbs new forces,which is a sign of institutionalization.Again,the Front National ’s ideology is a union of nationality and populism,a prominent party label for the Front National.However,its ideology is constantly adjusted with the goal of the party,and actively adopts the strategy of “demonizing”,this is an effort to institutionalize.Finally,with the rise of the Front National,the political order of reality and the impact on social psychology,especially on the power of the mainstream political parties,the democratic system caused by erosion,and promote the spread of social terror.Based on the above analysis,this dissertation concludes that the institutionalization level of the Front National is still relatively low.However,the tactical adjustments made by its leaders,the continuous remodeling of the organization,and the ideological modernization tendency all indicate that the party has made continuous efforts in the construction of the institutionalization level,and its level of institutionalizationwill be enhanced constantly.
