This paper takes the dialect of Chongfu and Puyuan in Tongxiang as the representative, investigate the tones of individual characters, the sandhi rules of disyllables, the stress pattern of disyllables by acoustical experiments and perception experiments. The main conclusions are as follows.1)The part of speech and the type of word formation will influence the sandhi rules. This is mainly reflected in the opposition between verb-object verb and other kinds of disyllables.2)In general,in Chongfu or Puyuan dialect, the syllables would change when they are the first or second word in tone sandhi.Different composite pattern of tone category have different model of sandhi. When the same tone category is followed by different tone category, the sandhi rules of the first syllable will not change. However,if the tone categories of the former syllables are different, the sandhi rules of the second syllable are often different.3)The duration of the first syllable will be affected by the latter. When the followed tone is Yang tone, the length of the first syllable will be longer;when the latter is Yin tone, the length of the first syllable will be shorter.4)The stress patterns of disyllables in Chongfu and Puyuan include: the stress is one the first syllable, the stress is one the second,or there is no difference between the two syllables. There are three main factors that affect the perception of stress: the maximum frequency of vocal cords, the length of syllables and the degree of tension in the throat muscles.5)There is no significant difference in the phonological system between Chongfu and Puyuan. There are 25 initials,36 finals and 8 types of tones.
