Vocabulary,as a unity of the basic elements of language,sound,form,and meaning,and the basic link of language learning,has a very important position in the process of English teaching in primary schools.In the teaching environment based on exam-oriented education,teachers and students have become utilitarian in the goal of English learning.Teachers and students have ignored the basic content of vocabulary learning.Therefore,this study takes the basic content of how teachers teach and how students learn vocabulary: sound,form,meaning,and usage as research content.This research is divided into eight chapters,the specific contents are as follows:The first chapter introduces the research background,the purpose of the study,the significance of the topic selection,and the relevant literature at home and abroad.And three core concepts have been defined.The second chapter describes the research design of this article from five aspects: research object and content,research method,measurement tool,research process and data collection and arrangement.The third chapter elaborates the second language acquisition theory,constructivism teaching theory and information processing theory as the theoretical basis of this research.The fourth chapter analyzes the characteristics of English vocabulary in the senior years of elementary school from the two aspects of the compulsory education curriculum standards(2011 edition)and the new starting point English textbooks,such as the standard requirements for students to learn vocabulary,Classification,vocabulary distribution in textbooks,how to present vocabulary in textbooks,etc.The fifth chapter is the survey results and analysis of the current situation of English vocabulary teaching in primary school.From the elementary school age,the importance and love of English and English vocabulary learning,the difficulties in vocabulary learning,the difficulties in learning vocabulary,shape,meaning and usage,and the teachers' awareness of the importance of vocabulary The teaching methods used in teaching vocabulary pronunciation,form,meaning and usage are summarized and analyzed in terms of the completion of the questionnaires,the answers to the test papers,the teacher interviews,and the classroom observations.The sixth chapter summarizes the main problems of vocabulary teaching in the senior years of elementary school and analyzes the reasons.The problems of primary school English teachers' word teaching mainly include: monotonous teaching methods,insufficient use of teaching resources,and uneven distribution of teaching practices.The main problems for students are: difficulty in recognizing and reading words,single method of memorizing words,and lack of practical ability to use words.The reason is that students' memory methods are not correct,English learning goals are unbalanced,teachers' teaching goals are set to take test services,and English teaching and research activities are not formal.The seventh chapter puts forward corresponding problems from three aspects:students' problems in learning English vocabulary in the senior years of primary school,teachers' problems in teaching English vocabulary in the senior years of school,and problems in the organization of English teaching in schools The improvement strategies include the following points: taking good us of effective memory methods to master word spelling rules,catching up opportunities for practical word practice,creating a language environment suitable for word practice,continuously improving English teaching management,and occasionally checking teachers for lesson preparation situation and so on.The eighth chapter is the conclusion.In the conclusion,the importance of English vocabulary teaching in primary school was emphasized again,and the vocabulary teaching in primary school,especially the vocabulary teaching in senior years,continued to be paid attention to and studied.
