Chinese female writer Zhang Jie and Canadian female writer Margaret Atwood were both born in the late 1930 s.Although the growth environment,life experience,cultural traditions,educational background,etc.are not the same,they all realize that mature self-awareness is of great significance to the survival,development,and realization of the value of life of women.Survival status and mental dilemma clearly reveal the obstacles restricting the construction of women's self-consciousness.Their creations not only constitute an important link in the development chain of female literature in their respective countries,but also have a positive impact on the world's literary world.This article takes Zhang Jie's "Ark" and Atwood's "The Robber Bride" as the object of comparative research.From four aspect,it explores the writing of the two works on the survival situation of women,and explores the reasons why women fall into the dilemma of constructing self-awareness.Chapter one,from the philosophical connotation of self-consciousness to the self-consciousness in feminist literary criticism,gradually analyzes the complex connotation of female self-consciousness,and at the same time looks at the creative process of Zhang Jie and Atwood.It is believed that "Ark" and "The Robber Bride" are in an important position in the writing and exploration of the two writers' female self-consciousness construction dilemma.Chapter two,from the perspective of traumatic memory writing,analyzes the exploration of the two works on the cause of the dilemma of female self-consciousness construction.It is believed that both works reveal the harm caused to women by shadows of war,marriage failure,and sexism,and reveal the negative impact of traumatic memory on women's life,growth,and self-cognition.Chapter three analyzes the exploration of the reasons for the dilemma of women's self-consciousness in the two works from the perspective of attachment to psychological writing.It is believed that both works have shaped the appearance of independence and economic independence,but the image of "little woman" who is dependent on men,marriage,same-sex friends and society is still inevitable in the bones,revealing that the attachment psychology causes the construction of female self-consciousness into a dilemma.Chapter four analyzes the exploration of the dilemma of female self-awareness construction in the two works from the perspective of identity doubt writing.It is believed that both works describe women's mind,dissatisfaction,suspicion and even disdain for self body and identity,revealing the great obstacles of identity fear to the construction of femaleself-consciousness.Whether it is the feminist movement in the West or the liberation of women under the social transformation of China,women have never stopped exploring the essence of freedom."Ark" published in 1982 and "The Robber Bride" published in 1993 let us see the tacit understanding of the two writers who in different eras and cultural backgrounds caring,are all jointly observe the survival situation of women,they revealing the difficulties faced by women in the formation of self-consciousness and the reasons for their confusion may be a reasonable way for women to break through the dilemma of self-consciousness construction.
