As a common formal language in today's plastic arts, curved elements first appeared in the creation of modernist sculpture in the form of a new material at the beginning of the 20 th century. From the transparent plastic in the works of Naum Gabo to the mirrored stainless steel in the sculpture of Max Bill, from the cold-forged weathering steel in the sculpture of Richard Serra to the titanium skin in the buildings of Frank Owen Gehry, from the composite wood panels in the sculpture of Richard Deacon to the translucent fabric of the works of Ann Hamilton.Generations of artists have explored and reconstructed the sculpture space through the form language which has distinctive characteristics, and has gradually changed the visual experience that sculpture brings to people in the traditional sense. This paper is divided into three chapters. The first two chapters mainly make a simple analysis and research on the application of surface elements in the creative practice of different schools of artists in the past100 years, and with the help of curved surface,To think and discuss the essential problems in the development of modern art represented by sculpture. The third chapter,It is based on my own practice of forms, materials and techniques of expression in my study and creation in the past few years, with the help of some representative works to analyze the inspiration and influence brought to me by several related artists, and expounds my thinking and experience on the basic problems of "remove quality",space feeling and movement trend of sculpture.
