At the beginning of the twentieth century,traditional Chinese painting faced challenges of transformation.As a pioneer and representative of the popularization of art in the new era,Zhao Wangyun was influenced by the reform movement.After many stages,the famous "Chang'an Painting School" was finally established together with Shi Lu and Fang Jizhong,etc.,which also established its important historical position in the history of Chinese art.This article studies Zhao Wangyun's sketching art in the 1930 s and 1940 s from various aspects and levels.The first chapter gives an overview of Zhao Wangyun's artistic life from a macro perspective,clarifying his journey from "realism" to "both realism and freehand brushwork",and then to the "painting heart" in his later years.Chapters two,three,and four are the focus of this article.Under a specific historical background,to study Zhao Wangyun's sketch works in the 1930 s and 1940 s,sort out and summarize his artistic activities during this period,and analyze sketch works in different periods.'S artistic style,thus deeply exploring the profound impact of this experience on Zhao Wangyun's life.The fifth chapter explores the significance and influence of Zhao Wangyun's sketching art.On the one hand,it analyzes its contribution to "Chang'an Painting School" and its impact on contemporary Chinese painting creation.Through an in-depth analysis of Zhao Wangyun 's sketching art in the 1930 s and 1940 s,this article also sorts out the history of the development of Chinese painting in the 20 th century,and has a deeper understanding of the relationship between art and the development of the times.Zhao Wangyun always insists on facing life,Continuously innovating the artistic concept,let us deeply understand the responsibility of the artists of that era and the spirit of the era,which has a very high reference value and research value for our Chinese painting creation today.
