Research On Ye Jiaying's Literary Theory

Chia-ying Yeh devoted her whole life to the teaching and research of Chinese classical poetry.In nearly a century of classical poetry creation,teaching and criticism practices,Chia-ying Yeh critically inherited the quintessence of the ancient Chinese literary theory,and learned from the western literary theory of the director.Through digesting both of them,she gradually formed her own thought of literary theory,put forward some original theories,such as the theory of "Inspired and Moved","Double Layered Implications " and "Beauty of Feeble Morality",which contributed to the construction of Chinese literary theory.The paper is divided into six parts to elaborate Yeh’s literary theories.The content is as follows:The introduction mainly expounds in for aspects: reasons for theme,research status,logic and methods,as well as significance.In the first part,it will argue the characteristics of practicalness and a solid practical foundation contained in Yeh’ s literary theories by the relations of creative practice,teaching practice,critical practice to the formation of Chia-ying Yeh’s literary theory.The second part of the text is the focal point of the whole text,which explains the connotation of Chia-ying Yeh’s literary theory in detail,and discusses her three core theories: the theory of "Inspired and Moved","Double Layered Implications " and "Beauty of Feeble Morality".The elaboration of "Inspired and Moved" Theory is carried out from four dimensions:the substantive characteristics,theoretical source,motivation and effect as well as ethical value and practical significance.The Double Layered Implications Theory is explained in detail from the three aspects of its connotation,forming factors,applications in her work.This part will also discuss the theory of the beauty of weak morality from its origin,denotation and its practice of criticism to reflect the cultural background of the theoretical value.The third part of the text summarizes two prominent characteristics of Chia-ying Yeh’s literary theories,which is thinking features of both good and common sense and the application of comparative research methods.The fourth part of the text discusses the contemporary enlightenment of Chia-ying Yeh’s literary theories from two aspects: the inheritance and criticism of Chinese literary theory and the reference of western literary theory.The conclusion summarizes the whole text,then mentions the shortcomings of Chia-ying Yeh’s literary theory,and finally discusses the prospect of the study of Chia-ying Yeh ’s literary theory.
