At the beginning of the twentieth century,French Impressionism music gave art a new direction of development.The World War I brought death and destruction to Europe which had a huge impact to this group of contemporary musicians.The works of the twentieth century significantly changed the creation methods and performance techniques in violin and piano sonatas.The author analyzed and researched the background,musical style,music structure,harmony and performance of this work and the innovation of the music.Debussy hopes that musical art not only represents the nature,but also reflects the"mysterious correspondence between nature and imagination".Although his "Sonata no.3 for violin and piano in G minor L.140" is his later work,but still can find some impressionistic musical characteristics inside the music.Debussy explored the sound of nature as the source of his creation.It seems to be used to express his every short moments of life.In this sonata,the speed of music and the repeated fragments melody are used to convey the passage of time.
