| Modality shows speaker’s subjective attitude towards the possibility or inevitability of the facticity of an event.Modality,as the research content of semantic category,is universal in all languages in the world.Human’s emotions of suspicion,dissatisfaction,affirmation or permission are common in any language.The difference is how to express it in different language.Not only that,even in the same language,modality will be somewhat different in different writing genres,especially in some special styles,like the news genre.News speaks with facts,and language of news cannot be ambiguous,nor can it exaggerate or shrink fact.Time can directly affect the value of news.News requires speed,prompt and timely.It determines the news language should be concise and straightforward.News is aim to reveal facts that people generally care about.So news has its mass feature.Especially broadcast news,both intellectuals and illiterates use broadcasts to know major events at home and abroad.Therefore,language of news should be simple and avoid long-winded language.These characteristics form a unique means of expression in broadcast news discourses,and this uniqueness is reflected in modal categories that appear in news discourse.Since most news articles in Uyghur language are translated from Chinese,it is necessary to find out features and systematically sort out the Uyghur modality expression in news discourses,which has significant reference value to news translation career.This thesis uses systematic functional linguistics,linguistic typology and other related theoretical guidance,and forms on the basis of analyzing a large number of Chinese-Uighur translation corpora.It is the first detailed analysis and summary of the corresponding expression form and its characteristics in Uyghur language of"messaging modality","moral modality","dynamic modality" and "cognitive modality" in Chinese news discourses.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:Chapter one is Introduction,including the significance,basis of this thesis,research questions,and methodology.Chapter two is Chinese-Uyghur modality category and its classification,which mainly discusses the Chinese-Uyghur modality category and its classification on the basis of the previous researches.Chapter three discusses the expressive forms of communicative modality,which often appears in Chinese news discourse,in Uyghur language,then concludes that special discourses such as expression of"representation" and "learned" appear in the news discourse are expressed by munularni bildyrdi,-din igilini∫it∫ε and other specific expression in Uyghur language.Chapter four mainly discusses the corresponding expressions of "moral modality","dynamic modality",and "cognitive modality" common in Chinese news discourse in Uyghur language.According to statistically count modal verbs appearing in corpus,in news discourse,moral modality is the most common,which is also related to the charcter of news discourse.The last part is conclusion,which summarizes and concludes the whole thesis. |
