| Academic texts have their unique social functions and communicative purposes,that is,to disseminate scientific ideas and exchange academic findings.This translation report is based on an academic paper entitled ―Manners of human gait: a crosslinguistic event-naming study‖,which starts from Talmy‘s binary typology,and studies the lexical diversity of verb-framed languages and satellite-framed languages when language users use surface forms to encode motion events.This text is of great academic value,especially for the research of motion events in China.From the lexical and syntactic levels,this translation report takes the translation of nominalization structures,the present participle structures and the subjects of sentences as the main focus to analyze the difficult and representative sentences in the text in details.According to the linguistic differences between the two languages,some adjustments are made in translation and the translation strategies are summarized. |
