The Evolution Of Chinese Contemporary Ink Paintings With Urban Themes

Chinese contemporary urban ink painting is born out of traditional ink painting.It is the product of the times,the type of artistic creation formed by the new development of cities after the “reform and opening up”,and the new form of expression of Chinese ink painting’s concern and implication for real life.Chinese contemporary urban ink and wash paintings mainly focus on the expression of contemporary urban landscape and the spiritual feelings of urban people.They mainly include the creation of characters and landscapes with the background of urban theme.With the vigorous development of Chinese contemporary urban ink painting,more and more artists began to pay attention to this theme.However,although Chinese contemporary urban ink painting originated from traditional ink painting,there are great differences between traditional ink painting and Chinese ink painting in the source of material,creative concept,expression methods and so on.In order to better understand its theoretical concepts and support its theoretical development and creative practice,researchers should analyze it in the current social context and in the light of reality.Previous studies have explained the rise and development of urban figure paintings from the perspectives of urbanization progress and the youth identity of the creative subjectin China,but only provided a possible reason of the spirit of the times at the macro-social context level for its development.They have not explained the transformation and origin of Chinese contemporary urban ink paintings in terms of material sources,creative concepts and expressive techniques.In other words,only by finding this specific source,can the specific spirit of the times be put into practice in urban ink painting,and the relationship between the two can be formed.This paper focuses on three aspects of the evolution: creation concept,theme selection and expression methods,to interpret the development of urban theme ink painting,which is more effective and specific,and fills in the blank of relevant research,which is also the value of this paper.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts.The introduction mainly introduces the origin,research value and related research review.The first chapter clarifies the concept and characteristics of contemporary urban ink painting;the second chapter describes the time opportunities and artistic opportunities of the evolution of contemporary urban ink painting and the evolution of creative concepts,theme selections and expression methods.Based on the second chapter,the third chapter describes the author’s personal practice of urban ink painting,and base on this,the author makes a thorough reflection on the creation of contemporary urban ink painting in China.
