"Non-identity" is the core concept in Adorno’s thought. Therefore, comprehensive and profound understanding of the meaning of "non-identity" is the key to understanding his thoughts and reading his text.In the past, the academic circles mainly explored the non-identity thoughts from the negative dialectics or social critical theory, but paid less attention to the music philosophy that has an important position in the whole of their thoughts. But in fact, the non-identity thought as the "logic of disintegration" not only sprouted in its early music training, but also embodied in its music philosophy, therefore, this paper has important significance in studying the nonidentity thought from the text of Adorno’s music philosophy. The above points are the main reasons for the research. This paper mainly analyzes the content of non-identity thoughts embodied in Adorno’s music texts,as well as the realistic critique of it.It aims to combine the text of Adorno which has not been valued with the Enlightenment Dialectics and the Negative Dialectics and have a thorough understanding of his thoughts. This article is constituted by six parts. The first introduction mainly introduces the purpose and significance of this paper, the domestic and foreign research on this topic and the way of research. The second introduction mainly introduces the life of Adorno and the background related to his musical philosophy.Chapter one is the origin of the non-identity thought in Adorno’s music philosophy. The first section introduces the social background of the formation of non-identity ideas. The include the emergence of new musical phenomena in the 20 th century, the realistic environment for the commercialization of music, and reflections on Auschwitz in World War II.The second section introduces the relevant theories of non-identity,including Marx’s theory of commodity fetishism,Lukács’ materialization theory,Hegel’s aesthetic thoughts about music, and Freud’s theory of group psychology. These related theories combine the background of the first section to form Adorno’s critical context. The third section discusses the establishment of non-identity ideas.First, combing and analyzing the identity kernel of traditional dialectics, then introducing how Adorno constructs its own dialectic of negation with non-identity as the core on the basis of criticizing identity, and finally briefly describes the main connotation of "non-identity".Chapter two is the embodiment of the non-identity thought in Adorno’s music philosophy, mainly from the criticism of serious music and popular music. The serious music section is mainly analyzed from Adorno’s analysis of the composers who have promoted the tonality of disintegration, and the analysis of the works of Schoenberg and Stravinsky.Among them, the tonality disintegration of music and the birth of atonal music contain the profound connotation of "non-identity";Adorno’s admiration of Schoenberg and expressionism, and the reprimand of Stravinsky’s objectivism works can be reflected his attention to individuals, subjects, specials and differences. The pop music criticism section mainly about its identical standardized production form and structure.Chapter three is the critical point of non-identity thought in Adorno’s music philosophy, which mainly expounds the cultural industry critique and the totalitarian(ideology)critique in its music text.Music is part of culture and is inherently influenced by the logic of contemporary cultural development.Adorno’s critique aims to show that the commoditized music has lost the true and transcendental functions of art.The commercial music has also become the cultural product of the upper ruling group to control the public, let them indulge and gradually lose the resistance to the real society and free themselves.Chapter four is the evaluation of the non-identity thought in Adorno’s music philosophy from the perspective of historical materialism. It mainly focuses on the value and limitations of the theory and the enlightenment to reality. The value part mainly analyzes the critical inheritance of Marx’s dialectics and the emphasis on individual and individuality in Adorno’s non-identity.The limitation mainly analyzes the abstraction of criticism and the theory is higher than practice. The enlightenment part mainly elaborates on people’s vigilance against reality and innovation of culture and art.
