Research On Zhao Gongming's Image Transformation

Zhao Gongming is a famous God of Wealth in China.At present,the research on Zhao Gongming mostly focuses on his origins and the reasons for transformation into the God of Wealth.We pay less attention to other images of Zhao Gongming.The article attempts to scoop out the all side of Zhao Gongming's characteristics and images from Taoist classics,literary works,local records,funerary documents and other literatures.In order that we shall grasp the whole image and analyzes the reasons for its transformation as we could.The article consists of five chapters.The first chapter examines the image of Zhao Gongming in various documents before the Song Dynasty and the reasons for its evolution.The second chapter studies the divinity of Zhao Gongming in Taoist literature after Song dynasty,including the divinity of misery and hades,the expression of the divinity of heavenly commander and marshal,and the future God of Wealth.The third chapter analyzes the different images after Song dynasty presented in the literati,including military commander,Marshal God,God of Plague and the God of Wealth.The fourth chapter tries to grasp the transformation context of Zhao Gongming's image and the characteristics based on the analysis of Taoist literature,literary works and local Chronicles.At the same time,we can discuss the complex reasons for the image transformation of zhao gongming.That is,the inner tension of Taoist deitises,the use of Taoist by the Song dynasty royal family,the utilitarian influence of folk beliefs and the vigorous promotion of literary creation.The fifth chapter further discusses the relationship between Taoism and literature,taking the evolution of zhao gongming's image as an example.This refers to the reference,interpretation and transformation of Taoism in literature.It also refers to the absorption of literature by Taoism,the reliance of propaganda on literature,and the response of Taoism based on the feedback of literature,namely re-creation.
