Jiaodong Peninsula, located in the "Camel Head" part of Shandong territory, generally refers to the eastern part of Jiaolai River in Shandong Peninsula.Jiaodong is also a wealthy and prosperous area along the coast of China. It has always been regarded as a military town,Tengchow,as well as the most important commercial ports on the northern coast of Shandong Peninsula, such as Qingdao and Jiaozhou.Laizhou and Gaomi are the economic centers of Shandong. It is precisely because of their special geographical location and superior military, transportation, cultural and economic conditions that Jiaodong area has been regarded as the most important commercial port in the history of China. It has always been an important place for military strategists to contend for.Following the Opium War in 1840,accompanied by the German gunboat, foreign missionaries began to pour into China in large quantities under the protection of unequal treaties,in order to realize their dream of "returning to China".As an important coastal area, the unique regional culture and historical background of Jiaodong attracted a large number of missionaries to preach and preach here.Their activities spread from coastal areas to inland areas, and established large and small churches, hospitals and schools.Western music began to spread in the Jiaodong area by combining with Christianity.Western missionaries translated hymns into Chinese.People felt the gospel by singing poems. At the same time, chorus,a new way of singing, sprouted and developed in Jiaodong. At the same time, the western-style education attached to the church schools also came along.Students learned Western musical instruments in class, appreciated western music, contacted harmony, music analysis and other theoretical knowledge. This was also the different music education mode in the social environment and traditional Chinese education. It also influenced the music aesthetics of Jiaodong people in a subtle way.At the same time, with the growing maturity of church music professors, the seeds of education have been sown for the cultivation of a new generation of music talents in China.Enlightened by the new educational concept,a large number of excellent musicians and educators have been trained directly or indirectly for Jiaodong, such as Wang Zhongsheng,a famous pianist, and Deng Yuhong,a musician. These talents with western music literacy have made outstanding contributions to the spread of Western music and have played a positive role in promoting the further development of music education in China.
