Meticulous flower-and-bird painting occupies an important position in Chinese painting,with a long history and many talented painters have emerged.Chen Zhifo has a very high artistic attainment.He is a master with the significance of connecting the preceding with the following.He has a far-reaching influence on Jiang Hongwei in fine brushwork of flower and bird painting.On the one hand,Chen Zhifo and Jiang Hongwei have similar aesthetic orientation,and their works show elegant,cold and elegant,lonely and elegant artistic sentiment.Elegant but not thin,light and meaningful,far-reaching artistic conception,expressing a kind of cold and comfortable warmth,highlighting the artist’s pursuit of the essence of the supreme realm of things.They adopt the artistic techniques of opening up the past and opening up the present and making foreign things useful for China.Under the influence of traditional culture,they have made new paths to extract the source of creation from their rich life experiences,based on traditional formulas,creatively borrowed foreign cultures,and worked hard to grasp the "degree" of artistic innovation to form a unique modern painting interest.Under the impetuous social background,Chen Zhifo and Jiang Hongwei did not drift along with the current,but pursued the artistic realm of indifference and seclusion in a unique and independent "bystander" attitude,always retaining the feelings of "the old method is as new as possible",and savoring the inherent emotion and aesthetic interest of traditional meticulous flower-and-bird painting.On the other hand,Jiang Hongwei inherited the characteristics of Chen Zhifo’s meticulous flower-and-bird painting in terms of region and culture,ideology and attitude,techniques and style.On the basis of Chen Zhifo,he further developed meticulous flower-and-bird painting,broadened the artistic vision,innovated the techniques and artistic conception of meticulous flower-and-bird painting,and became the subject leader of Contemporary Meticulous flower-and-and-bird painting.This paper intends to take Chen Zhifo and Jiang Hongwei as examples to analyze the inheritance and innovation of Contemporary Meticulous flower-and-bird painting from the perspective of painting works and academic literature.It reveals that only by deeply exploring the essence of traditional painting and innovating in tradition can we find a way of Chinese meticulous flower-and-bird painting,which has profound enlightenment on the development of Contemporary Meticulous flower-and-bird painting.
