Graphical Design And Research Of Stories About The Origin Of Chinese Surnames

The well-known phrase “That’s my name.Don’t wear it out” show that how important of surname is to Chinese.The surname is not just a genealogical symbol but a bond for connecting clansman.This spirit that attaches great importance to root genealogy is the unique culture of the Chinese nation and shows the inheritance and development of the Chinese civilization.In my opinion,the Chinese surname totem itself is a special visual symbol,and its expression belongs to art category.Art works often be presented as special philosophical implication with certain cultural characteristics,so it is meaningful and interesting to explore the source of surname story and then design it graphically.Grosse,Germany,mentioned in “The Origin of Art”: We generally believe that art can be divided into two categories: static and dynamic.So for myself the study of static surname totem art is required research on its fine arts and graphic arts.Based on the origin of Chinese surnames,This paper includes exploring the graphical symbols in the story of Chinese original surname totems,applying hand-drawing and computer technology to design patterns,and organizing them with new visual language in order to present new visual effects.
