Nocturneis a kind of music genre which expresses personal emotion and full of fantasy color.Most of its works show sadness and melancholy emotion,Irish composer John field founded this genre in 1812.Both the establishment of its name and its unique music feature had a profound impact on the music environment in Europe in the 19th century.During his lifetime,field composed 18 nocturnes,of which the most played by pianists was nocturne in B flat major(H.37).Chopin was a composer and pianist in the romantic period.In his music,there are both unique polish national style and romantic and noble poet temperament,and his romantic and noble poet temperament can be seen at a glance in nocturne.Chopin composed 21 nocturnes in his lifetime,which were characterized by beautiful melodies,rich harmonic changes and profound music connotation,reaching the peak of the same genre.Deryck Cooke is an advocate of the emotional language theory of modern western philosophy music.He thinks that what music expresses is the universal emotion of human beings,and puts forward the philosophical view of music,the emotional language theory of music.This paper makes an analysis and comparative study of field's nocturne h.37 and Chopin's nocturne Op.9 No.1,based on Deryck Cooke's view of expression of tension in music emotional language theory,so as to find out what kind of expression of tension they have,whichis also the innovation of this topic.In music emotional language,Deryck Cooke believes that tension is reflected through the relationship between sounds,time,volume and texture timbre,etc.Pitch relationship tension is the most critical part of this analysis system.This paper mainly analyzes the tension represented by music elements,such as pitch relationship,rhythm and speed,volume,texture and tonality,so as to obtain the commonness and individuality of their artistic features.The last chapter explains the tension of the two nocturnes from the perspective of performance.The tension of these two pieces.This thesis is helpful for the players to analyze the nocturnes of Chopin and field.By understanding the similarities and differences between them in music ontology and artistic expression,the players can better grasp their own style characteristics and make the performance more rigorous,so as to further express the connotation of the nocturnes of the two composers.This study can provide theoretical guidance for players and help us to play and teach nocturnes.It has certain practical significance for the two composers to grasp the sty-le characteristics of nocturnes and improve the performance level and music quality.This paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter is the introduction.which describes the reason and significance of the topic,the research status and trend of this topic,and the research methods and ideas of this topic.The second part first briefly narrates the life of field and Chopin,then narrates the origin and development of nocturne,a music genre,and finally the creation background of field and Chopin's nocturne.In the third part,firstly narrates derrick cook's music emotional language theory,and explains in detail the content and conclusion of the expression of tension in his music emotional language.In The fourth part analyzes and compares h.37 and Op.9 No.1 of field nocturne and Chopin nocturne from the aspects of sound to sound,time,volume,texture and tonality,so as to obtain the commonness and individuality of their artistic features.In the fifth part is based on the detailed music ontology analysis,further explain its role in the performance,from the melody of pitch relationship,rhythm and speed,volume,timbre,pedal these aspects of how to show the music tension.
