"QiYanLu" occupies a special position in the study of Sui and Tang popular literature. It is not only a collection of jokes, but also a classical Chinese novel.Among them, there are not only popular and easy-to-understand jokes, but also profound and elegant stories of literati. It has both the humorous and crude side of popular literature and the serious and elegant side of elegant literature. This coexistence of elegance and vulgarity reflects the collision between popular literature and elegant literature in Sui and Tang Dynasties."QiYanLu" is inclined to popular literature while combining elegance and vulgarity.First of all, from the way of book-making,the way of collective creation has obvious characteristics of popular literature. This way of book-making makes it difficult to determine the author and the time of book-writing,which is also a common problem of popular literatureSecondly, the secularization trend of "QiYanLu" in ideology and aesthetic tendency also reflects the characteristics of its secular literature. The entertainment of excellent actors' jokes and the vulgarity of scholar's jokes in "QiYanLu" illustrate the secularization trend of thoughts, while the ugly taste of plain jokes represents the secularization trend of aesthetics. In addition,"QiYanLu" is also of great literature value to popular literature.A large number of oil poems are preserved in "QiYanLu".These vulgar and simple oil poems are totally opposite to the rhetoric of early Tang poems. They show the popular language and clear style of poetry.Oil poems are the origin of vernacular poems in Tang Dynasty."QiYanLu" provides important literature for future generations to study vernacular poems.uSaying a good talk"in"QiYanLu" is the earliest documentary record of "talking",which also shows that the "talking"skill has been preliminarily mature in the early Tang Dynasty. In addition to oil poems and"talking" tricks, the jokes of "discussing" in "QiYanLu" are textual records of buddhist activities of "discussing",which provide important documents for scholars to study the activities of "discussing".
