As the greatest composer in Finnish history so far,Sibelius,with his music creation which condenses the fervent nationalist sentiment,has made a "voice" belonging to Finland on the world music stage.The formation of his musical style is closely related to the times and nationalities he lives in.Among the numerous works of Sibelius,the Finnish national epic Kalevala is the theme of not a few.At the critical moment of Finland's national situation,Sibelius projected Kalevala into his music creation,thus arousing the strong patriotic consciousness of Finnish people and their determination to pursue national independence."Kalevala " Complex the concretion of Sibelius' creative thought and national spirit in his music career,which is reflected in his series of great Symphonic poems.Lemmink?inen Suite is one of them.Sibelius integrates the vivid heroic image,legendary plot and magnificent scenes in Kalevala into this work,making the music content and national literature perfect integration.It set an example for the development of Finnish national music at the end of the 19 th century.Therefore,the study of Sibelius' s " Kalevala" complex is an important entry point to explore the national style in Sibelius' s works.Taking this as an opportunity,this paper first analyses the composer's life experience and works creation with the available data,then explores the gestation process of "Kalevala" complex in the light of the composer's social and historical background of creation and the musical and cultural context at that time,and finally combines the analysis of the creative characteristics of Lemmink?inen Suite.It tries to show the unique musical language and epic feelings of the "Kalevala" complex in this work.Based on Sibelius' Symphonic Suite Lemmink?inen Suite,this paper takes Sibelius' "Kalevala" complex as the research angle,and explores the strong basis for presenting his "Kalevala" complex in his works.The text is divided into three chapters.The first chapter combs Sibelius' s life creation process.By introducing his early life environment,learning experience and a series of national music creation and exploration,we can get a more comprehensive understanding of Sibelius' national consciousness in music creation from breeding to development;In the second chapter,through the analysis of various factors,such as social and historical environment,traceability of national epics and the influence of the concept of Title music,the author establishes that Sibelius' s "Kalevala" complex runs through the cause of his creation;On the basis of the first two chapters,the third chapter starts with the huge works of Lemmink?inen Suite,and analyses the various music performance factors associated with Kalevala.By analyzing the theme image,structure principle,orchestral language characteristics and style of the work,it is confirmed that the symphonic suite Lemmink?inen Suite expresses Sibelius' firm "Kalevala" complex both in its expressive technique and in its sound color,thus better understanding the work which bears Sibelius' strong national feelings and personal style.
