Hieronymous Bosch, his visual world in paintings has become an amazing phenomenon in the history of early modern art.Around the middle of the 16 th century, people's attention turned to the exploration of his works—especially the interpretation of the many grotesque, absurd, and mysterious elements in Paradise on Earth, which imply the visual habits and religious practices of the late Middle Ages. However, the grotesque elements in the painting are still the core of his attempt to attract audience dialogue, and through his more grotesque information to convey his alertness to human evil, desire, sin and punishment and redemption.I analyze Boss' "The Paradise of Humanity" from the aesthetic aspect of "grotesque",and combine the contemporary background and cultural phenomena to try to restore the hidden meaning behind these grotesque elements, and to explore the works of Boss in the Northern European Renaissance.Uniqueness, important influence on surrealism in the 20 th century, and my own thinking about painting creation.
