| Nowadays,Chinese plays an important role in the international arena,which is also paid more and more attention in Myanmar,and more and more people are learning it.It’s beneficial for better implementing of Chinese teaching to understand learners’ attitudes towards Chinese and its culture.This paper takes Chinese learners from Chinese schools in Kungtong district of Myanmar as respondents.On the basis of sorting out the literature theory,this paper analyzes the attitudes of local Chinese learners towards Chinese and Chinese culture from three levels:cognitive,emotional and behavioral by statistical analysis in SPSS software of the data,collected by issuing questionnaires,classroom observation and interviews.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,which describes the origin of this study and the significance of topic selection,and introduces the relevant theories and concepts.Chapter 2 gives an overview of the history and current situation of Chinese teaching in Myanmar firstly.Then,it elaborates the survey design of this study,including the purpose of investigation,the selection of respondents,the basis of design,the content of survey,the inspection and implementation process,and analyses the basic situation of the survey subjects and the situation of Chinese culture learning.Chapter 3 analyzes Chinese attitudes of the Myanmar Chinese learners at the cognitive,emotional and behavioral levels,and the differences in Chinese attitudes of learners from different gender,Chinese and non-Chinese backgrounds,age,learning level and learning time.Chapter 4 analyzes Myanmar Chinese learners’ attitudes towards Chinese culture and Chinese people at the cognitive,emotional and behavioral levels,as well as the differences in learners’attitudes towards Chinese culture and Chinese people from different gender,Chinese and non-Chinese backgrounds,age,learning level and learning time.Chapter 5 discusses the attitudes characteristics of Chinese learners in Myanmar towards Chinese and Chinese culture,and puts forward some suggestions.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this study,which summarizes the significance,achievements and shortcomings of this research.The results show that learners in Kungtong district of Myanmar tend to have a positive attitude towards Chinese and Chinese culture.Among them,the most active level of the attitude towards Chinese and Chinese people is on the emotional level,followed by the cognitive level,and finally the behavioral level.About the attitude towards Chinese culture,the cognitive level is the most active,followed by the emotional level,and finally the behavioral level.Generally speaking,learners tend to have a good attitude towards Chinese,Chinese culture and Chinese people.However,some learners tend to have negative attitudes.In order to improve Myanmar learners’ attitudes towards Chinese and Chinese culture,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions from four aspects:teaching,media,Chinese and local embassies.The innovation of this paper lies in the novelty of topic selection.It is the first time to investigate the attitude of Chinese learners to Chinese and Chinese culture in Kungtong area of Myanmar,and the subjects of the survey are more specific.This paper not only investigates the attitudes of Chinese learners in Kungtong,but also investigates their attitudes towards Chinese culture and Chinese people. |
