The Usage Investigation And Functional Analysis Of The Appropriate Adverb "X Qiao"

The coincidental adverbs "X qiao" is a group of adverbs transformed from descriptive adverbs to commentary adverbs.The development from descriptive adverbs to commentary adverbs is a gradual process.According to the nature of eight coincidence adverbs "Gangqiao","Qiaqiao","Zhengqiao","Keqiao","Pengqiao","Ganqiao","Pianqiao" and "Buqiao",this paper divides them into three categories: "Gangqiao","Qiaqiao","Zhengqiao","Keqiao"(divided into two parts,one part is the coincidental commentary adverbs,the other part is the coincidental descriptive adverbs and adverbs in the transition.);"Pengqiao","Ganqiao"(atypical commentary adverbs);"Pianqiao" and "Buqiao"(typical commentary adverbs).This article mainly carries on the comprehensive discussion of "X qiao" from three plane angles,In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the article consists of four chapters.The first chapter divides the research objects "Gangqiao","Qiaqiao","Zhengqiao" and "Keqiao" into two parts,and discusses their similarities and differences in syntax,semantics and expressive functions as descriptive adverbs and commentary adverbs.In the aspect of syntax,it mainly describes the syntactical distribution and combination and co-occurrence of four words.In terms of semantics,the semantic features and the tendency of time expressions are analyzed in detail.In terms of pragmatics,this paper expounds the three aspects of the pragmatic tendency,coherence and cohesion,and communicative function.In the second chapter,"Pengqiao" and "Ganqiao" are classified by some scholars as mood adverbs(ie.commentary adverbs).In this chapter,they are not really commentary adverbs,but atypical commentary adverbs with both the lexical meaning of descriptive adverbs and the modal meaning of commentary adverbs.Based on abundant corpus,this paper makes a comparison from the perspectives of nature,distribution and collocation,semantic characteristics,subjectivity and intersubjectivity,coherence and cohesion.In the third chapter,"Pianqiao" and "Buqiao" are comparable as commentary adverbs.Syntactically,it focuses on describing the distribution and collocation of the two adverbs.Semantically,it focuses on the analysis of the semantic features and the redundant negation of "Buqiao".Pragmatically,it emphasizes the similarities anddifferences between subjective commentary and anticipation..In chapter four,using the related theories of grammaticalization and lexicalization,the eight coincidental adverbs "X Qiao" are carried on the comprehensive research by means of synchronic functional description and diachronic evolution investigation.It also expounds the unbalanced development from the perspectives of degree of grammaticalization and frequency of use,and investigates and analyses the evolution and grammaticalization mechanism.Its motivation is not only the change of syntactic environment,but also the restriction of prosody,and the prominence of pragmatics.The evolution mechanism is mainly semantic and cognitive mechanism.
