Talking About The Development And Changes Of Western Coloring Woodcarving Pigments And Vehicles

Polychrome wood sculpture,coloring on the surface of wood sculptures for the purpose of combining forms and colors,is a kind of art expression which combines painting and sculpture to increase its expressive power.It is a form of artistic expression that painting on wood sculpture is produced at the same time as wood sculpture,and it has gone through thousands of years without losing its charm.In the Ten Books of Architecture of Ancient Greece,examples of craftsman using animal fat and beeswax as carriers to blend mineral pigments for painting on the parts of wood architecture were also recorded.This paper will mainly discuss the development of polychrome wood sculpture from the material technology aspect and the progression of material technology influencing the polychrome wood sculpture.
