Since the 20 th century, the expression of painting has been expanded and innovated unprecedentedly. The present is an era in which the artistic expressions are diversified, and there is no limit to the artistic concept and the means of painting. The pursuit of novelty, visual impact, and technological innovation have become the focus of contemporary visual art forms. In modern and contemporary art,the artists are looking for their own unique forms of expression, trying to distinguish their art from others. But many art works from a certain perspective are very similar in the form of visual structure. This thesis studies and analyzes the formal expression of modern and contemporary painting through similar expressions in art works..The main content of this study is divided into the following parts: The first part analyzes the application of segmentation in the formal expression of visual structure.Taking the works of Matisse and Diben Cohen as examples,I analyze how the artist constructs harmony from the perspective of segmentation and the characteristics of the art work in the segmentation of the pictures. The second part analyzes the spatial sense of the visual representation of the visual structure. The spatial meaning is very wide. This part only analyzes the hierarchical space generated by the virtual reality and the overlapping relationship between colors. The interpretation of artists such as Albert Erlen and Richard Richter explores the characteristics of the hierarchical relationship between the colors in the form of art.The third part analyzes the application of materials in the formal expression of the visual structure. This part explores the differences in the visual perception of the different materials in the picture including the visual contrast of the different materials in the works of the artists Robert Rauschenberg and Anselm Kiefer, the application of materials, and the comparison of texture and mechanical flat coating effects. The fourth part analyzes the blank space of the works in the form of visual structure, and analyzes the blank features and openness of Chinese paintings and Western oil paintings to explore whether there is a potential connection between them. |
