As a practice report on a lecture interpretation from Chinese to English,it describes one interpretation task conducted by the author in June 2018,a 21-day Seminar on Development Planning Tourism for The Republic of Kenya.The report focuses on one of the lectures in the seminar called Chinese Classical Garden Art and takes it as an example to discuss the Chinese to English translation strategies.The author has focused on describing the translation strategies in this interpretation practice,including the literal translation,omission,amplification and substitution.Meanwhile,the author has analyzed the characteristics and the translation methods for garden art vocabulary to enhance the translation quality.Through the analysis,summary and reflection of this practice report,the author hopes to give interpreters a better understanding of Chinese classical garden art so that they can improve their interpretation in this field in the future.
