From the 1970 s to the 1980 s,South Korean society was in the special industrialization stage of rapid development,which increasingly exposed many social problems such as the collapse of rural communities and the surge of poor people in the surrounding areas of big cities.This paper chooses two works with similar content and structure as the research objects: Lee Moon-goo's <Guan chon essay> and Yang Gui-ja's <People in Wonmi-dong>.From the perspective of the stylistic features of the series of novels,based on its genre characteristics of combining "independence" and "relevance",this paper is carries on the specific research in three aspects.Although the two writers were active in different times,they both tried to relieve their personal pain and the pain of the times through their works,and made a detailed reduction of the daily life of ordinary citizens through their own experiences,so as to reproduce the essence of life.Although the two works depict different novel environments and characters,they both reflect the author's critical awareness of Korean industrialization,which also provides feasibility for this study.First of all,from the perspective of the novel content,both of the two works choose the character-centered story structure to highlight the "independence" of the series of novels,emphasize the authenticity of the content.Secondly,from the perspective of narrative structure,both of the two works make use of the spatial consistency to endow the whole series with external "relevance",and the parallel narrative structure also shows the unique structural characteristics of the series.In terms of writing techniques,the two works use a lot of detailed descriptions in describing the space background and shaping the characters,which ensures the length of the series of novels and plays an important role in representing social status comprehensively and tridimensionally.The research significance and innovation of this paper lies in that <Guan chon essay> and <People in Wonmi-dong> are taken as the research objects for the first time.Through comparative analysis,this paper clarifies the stylistic features of the combination of "independence and relevance" in the series of novel genres.Then,it deeply analyses the similar story structure,narrative structure and writing techniques of the two series of novels in order to better understand the theme and ideology of the writers.
