Research On The Relationship Between Reason, Luck, And Emotion In Nussbaum's Moral Philosophy

Nussbaum's moral philosophy focuses on the realization of a good life,and in Nussbaum's view,a good life can be influenced by luck.And this influence is ignored by most moral philosophy theories.Therefore,from the study of ancient Greek tragedy,Plato's philosophical Thought and Aristotle's philosophy,Nussbaum affirmed the existence of luck in ethical practice.At the same time,it is suggested that the pursuit of a good life simply by intellect is not feasible,and it is also not advisable to rely solely on emotion to pursue a good life.Only from the perspective of Aristotle's practical rational philosophy,people's pursuit of a good life is likely to be truly realized.Nussbaum made an in-depth study of the emotional problems in the ancient Greek tragedy,and put forward that emotion is not useless in the pursuit of a good life,and that human emotion has the ability to judge.In the study of Plato's thought,Nussbaum affirmed Plato's desire to use intellect to break free from the influence of luck,but Nussbaum also thinks that Plato's "pure thinking" life is too boring life,lack of friendly people and political activities of life is not worth living.Finally,Nussbaum study on Aristotle's thought,and put forward that practical rationality is not science.Practical rationality must have emotional participation in order to be able to truly pursue a good life.This paper mainly discusses the role of intellect,luck and emotion in the pursuit of good life in the moral philosophy of Nussbaum's thought.In Nussbaum's moral philosophy,intellect is the foundation,emotion is the necessary condition,and luck is the factor that always exists and needs to be confronted to influence the realization of good life.The first part of this paper points out the theoretical resources of Nussbaum's moral philosophy,the second part points out the relationship between intellect,luck and emotion in Nussbaum's moral philosophy and the realization method of good life,the last part is intended to point out the positive aspects and inadequacies of Nussbaum's moral Philosophy.
