Research On The European Chinese Cultural Center From The Perspective Of Cultural Diplomacy

With the rising of China's comprehensive national power and its international status,it is more and more important to tell good Chinese stories and build the image of a responsible and civilized country.The Chinese Culture Center built overseas has been paid too much attention as a great creation in the field of cultural diplomacy in this new era.We have built and run 37 Chinese Culture Centers by the end of 2018,but according to The Development Program on Overseas Chinese Culture Center(2012-2020),we will build another 13 Chinese Culture Centers in the next two years,which means a big task and a large cost in both time and money.Hence,some inevitable questions have come up,such as what role these Chinese Culture Center have played in Chinese culture diplomacy,and what kind of Chinese Culture Center we should build in the future.In this case,this article first clarified the concept of culture diplomacy and reviewing the history of the thoughts on Chinese Cultural Diplomacy.Then by setting the 15 Chinese Culture Centers built in Europe as examples,lots of documents and points which include the background they were built,purposes and principles,practical functions,management organizations,diplomatic resources,diplomatic practices and so on are put up with the basic of considering Chinese Cultural Center as an official organization in culture diplomacy.As a conclusion,these Chinese Cultural Center has enhanced the mutual understanding among different cultures,promoted Chinese soft power,built China's national international image and maintained bilateral relations between China and the other country.However,besides these functions,Chinese Culture Center has some shortcomings.It has limited influences abroad and it lacks enough ways for advertisement and professionals.In the case,Chinese Cultural Center needs to integrate all the resources in cultural diplomacy,make a staged plan,improve the management efficiency and build a perfect mechanism for the talent introduction.What's more important,Chinese Cultural Center should stick to build an environment for equal and friendly cultural conversations.It need do more for the people-to-people exchanges.
