Abstract/Summary:
D.H.Lawrence is a controversial author of the 20 th century.T.S.Eliot called him a sex novelist,the great critic F.R.Levis think this is a fallacy.The academic research focuses on Lawrence early novels,neglecting Lawrence later works.This paper aims to study the Mexican novels created by Lawrence,and combine the modernism theory,digs into Lawrence achievements in thought and art.This paper first defines what Mexican novels are and what their scope includes.By analyzing the generality of female images in Mexican novels,this paper reveals their dissatisfaction with reality and their mystique.Lawrence deeply studies their thoughts and psychology,and explores the love and faith needed for the restoration of complete human nature.Lawrence not only pays attention to human nature,but also focuses on civilization.The decline of Western civilization makes Lawrence doubt the traditional belief system.While criticizing the European civilization,he yearns for the American "other" civilization,and attempts to establish his own "Lananim" in Mexico.Lawrence Mexican novel not only has new exploration in thought,but also has new achievement in art-unique material selection,unique expression,unique symbol.
