| Everyone has their own name.As a symbol to distinguish one person from another,name is a proper noun,having a specific reference which reflects the feature of uniqueness.But some people’s names can be used to describe a group of people,or to name other things.In this situation,the name of a person has already been converted into a common noun,standing for the certain class,which is a commonization.Until now,Chinese and foreign scholars have done extensive researches on the phenomenon of the transition from proper nouns to common nouns,but the ones into the commonization of the names of people still require more efforts.On the basis of previous researches,the present study tries to give the definition and classification of the commonization of the people’s name,and to summarize their rhetorical effects in practice.This paper consists of three parts: the introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction part aims to review the research background of commonization of the people’s name in China and Russia,and to explain the research significance,methods and innovation.The body part is divided into three chapters:Based on previous studies,the first chapter tries to define the concept of commonization of the people’s name,and to conclude the word-formation as well as morphological features of commonization.The second chapter tries to explain generative mechanism of commonization of the people’s name based on the conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy from cognitive linguistic.Then there follow discussions about the cultural connotation of the people’s names according to the theory of precedent names.The third chapter classifies the people’s name by their origins,and then summarizes their rhetorical effects in practice.The conclusion part summarizes this whole thesis,the research emphasis and research value of this paper. |
