Analysis Of William Rice's Ecological Marxism

As the founder of ecological Marxism,William Leiss proposed the theory on the basis of criticizing the concepts of ’domination of nature’ and ’obedience to nature’,the concept of ’liberation of nature,was put forward,and predictions were made on the future society,which provided a reference program for the development of today’s society.William Leiss’s ecology of the Marx had two characteristics:on the one hand,it inherited and developed Marxist ’alienated labor’ theory and ’alienated consumption’ theory,criticized the irrational consumption of capitalist society,advocated the relationship between man and nature;on the other hand,in another way,through the combination of Marxism and ecology theory,it clearly put forward plans for the future of society in order to solve the deteriorating environmental problems.William Leiss’s ecology of the Marx had both the genes of classical Marxism and inherited the tradition of Western Marxism,especially the Frankfurt School’s analysis of the critique of the capitalist crisis by using’alienation’ as its theoretical core.As one of the characters of Western Marxism,William Leiss played his role as a successor.He inherited the opinions of his predecessors and formed his own unique thinking on the basis of development.The study must be based on the fundamentals,proceed from reality,and combined the classic texts to lay a good foundation for the comprehensive,multilevel and wide-ranging study of William Leiss’s ecology of the Marx.William Leiss criticized both the concept of ’domination of nature’ and the concept of ’obedience to nature’and proposed ’liberation of nature’.’The liberation of nature,must be based on the status and the development of a new concept of demand and consumption.William Leiss proposed a solution to the ecological crisis,tried to solve the capitalist ecological crisis from an ethical perspective,and advocated a new kind of happiness concept in society by criticizing the ’false need’ in capitalist society and ’alienating consumption’.His theory developed and improved ecological Marxist demand theory.He advocated the development of a ’steady-state economy’ to replace the current waste of resources and population expansion and build an ’easy-to-live society’.The academic community currently had mixed reviews of William Leiss’s ecology of the Marx.Everything has two sides,and it requires dialectical views when looking at the problem.For William Leiss’s ecology of the Marx,we must realize that his thoughts and weaknesses are intertwined.William Leiss excessively exaggerated the ecological crisis theory and neglected the ecological crisis problem that he really wanted to solve.And his thinking was only a bold assumption and he had not really practiced it.It is undeniable that there is a valuable clue in his thoughts from the opposite of William Leiss’s theory.From the different perspectives,William Leiss provided some new methods and ideas for solving the ecological crisis.The purpose of this paper is to hope that studying William Leiss’s ecology of the Marx.On the one hand,his thinking will be organized.On the other hand,we can get valuable clues from it and be able to build better and earlier our country’s construction of ecological civilization.
