In the field of social cognitive research,stereotype has always attracted attention.As a factor related to appearance,Body shapes have always influenced people’s aesthetic concept,at the same time,it is also an important factor to influence the choice of mate.In this paper,the questionnaire and experimental methods are used to investigate college students’ body stereotype and mate selection intention.The research is divided into three parts:one is to investigate whether college students have body stereotype by implicit association test,the other is to study whether different information of anti-stereotype can reduce the negative stereotype.In the third study,questionnaire and experiment were used to investigate the body pairs of each other.Whether there is any influence on the choice of spouse of college students,and whether the presentation of anti-stereotype information has an effect on college students’ preference for mate selection.Study 1,was to measure the stereotype of 109 college students by using the implicit association test based on reaction time.The results show that there are body stereotype in college students,and people tend to be "skinny-positive/fat-negative".Compared with male subjects,female subjects have a higher level of body stereotype impression.Study 2,the subjects were randomly divided into three groups,one group did not accept anti-stereotype information,the other two groups received anti-stereotype video information and anti-stereotype text information,respectively.Then the body stereotype was measured by implicit association test.The results show that the information of anti-stereotype can reduce the body stereotype of the subjects.Study 3,the subjects were still divided into the anti-striking image material group,the anti-stereotype video group,and the non-stereotyped information group.The influences of body type on college students’ preference for mate were explored,and the study further investigated on whether there was a difference in the mate choice intention of different groups.The results of the study revealed that,body size has a significant effect on college students’ preference for mate selection.The presentation of anti-stereotype information has a significant effect on college students’choice of spouse.The study reached the following conclusions:1.College students have a body stereotype of "skinny-positive/fat-negative";2.The presentation of anti-stereotype can reduce college students’ body stereotypes;3.The other party’s size(thin),"skinny-positive" stereotypes and anti-stereotypes have a positive impact on college students’ preference for mate selection.
