The Origin Of The Color Skirt With Narrow Sleeves And High Waist

At the time of the Sui and Tang dynasties,the narrow-sleeve,high-waisted color skirts with characteristics of the narrow sleeves,long waists,high waists to chest and color skirts,which represented the appearance of the clothing at that time,especially the narrow-sleeve high-waisted color skirts from the Sui dynasty to the Kaiyuan period is more typical.Its structure and its constituent elements are far-reaching.The stage characteristics of the changing process reflected the ethnic interactions,cultural exchanges,and identity among Han culture,northern ethnic minority culture,and western exotic culture from the late Northern Wei Dynasty to the Sui and Tang dynasties.It is a materialized embodiment of cultural integration from the late Northern Wei Dynasty to the Sui and Tang dynasties.In this paper,the images of narrow-sleeved and high-waist colored skirts which are 'from the Sui to the Tang Kaiyuan period are the research subject.According to its structural elements,it can be traced back to the late Northern Wei Dynasty and extended to the Late Tang and the Five Dynasties.In general,according to the characteristics of its clothing,it can be divided into three phases:formative period,mature period and transmutative period.This paper analyzes the narrow-sleeved and high-waist color skirt from its structure style and composition elements,then the cultural factors are analyzed.In this paper,the author thinks that the color skirt with narrow sleeve and high waist is a new kind of dress with mutiple cultural factors,which reflects the exchange of "Hu" and Han culture,as well as the trend of integration of clothes from the late Northern Wei Dynasty to the Sui and Tang dynasties.Combined with the social background from the late Northern Wei Dynasty to the Sui and Tang dynasties,it is believed that the formation of the Sui and Tang clothing system,especially the regular service system,has experienced four stages of gradual integration.The characteristic of the integration in different stages is also a reflection of cultural fusion of Hu and Han and the change of cultural identity at that time.
