The Measurement And Characteristics Of The Pride Of Middle School Students

Pride is an important self-conscious emotion that closely related to the development of mental health.With the development of positive psychology,the effect and influence of positive emotion have been paid much attention,and the research on pride is also increasing.Because of the lack of perfect local pride theory and the shortcomings in the measurement tools of pride.,we try to define the Chinese pride structure on the basis of the existing theories,develop the Middle School Students' Pride Scale(MSSPS),explore the characteristics of pride among middle school students with the scale,and the relationship between pride,academic performance and social comparison.Results:(1)The self-designed MSSPS consists of four dimensions,consistent with theoretical model,Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.824,the split-half reliability was 0.890,the correlative coefficient of test-retest was 0.958,the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient,split-half reliability,correlative coefficient of test-retest of the subscale were 0.635-0.761,0.590-0.742,and 0.822-0.957,which indicate the scale has good content validity and structure validity.(2)Senior high school students scored higher than junior high school students on individual hubristic pride;boys scored higher than girls on Individual hubristic pride and overall pride.(3)Overall pride,social comparison and academic achievement analysis showed that there was a moderating effect.Under the low social comparison level,pride had a positive predictive effect on academic performance.Conclusions:The Middle School Students' Pride Scale has good reliability and validity.Pride shows differences in different grades and gender.Overall pride of middle school students can predict academic performance,social comparison moderates the correlation between them.
