A Study On The Narrative Style Of François Ou Jong's Films

In the early 1990 s,after various works of French new generation of young filmmakers,including Olivier Assayas,Cédric Klapisch,Arnaud Desplechin etc.attracted the attention in the French filmdom,Fran?ois Ozon started to make a fine figure through a series of short films with strong personal style.He narratives the story of suspense,lust,death,peep and other elements in a calm and elegant way,which always finds a very concise and rich way of expression for story.All his films flash a fascinating glory with its unique narrative mode and camera language.The dissertation attempts to make a textual study of Fran?ois Ozon's films and explore the characteristics of the personalized style in narration through the methods of narratology.This thesis is divided into six chapters to study and discuss the unique narrative charm of his films.The main part is composed of five chapters: the second chapter mainly combs the life experience and creation process of Fran?ois Ozon;the third chapter mainly discusses the causes of Ozon 's film narrative style – the influence of Luis Bu?uel's surrealism,Hitchcock's suspense and theatrical tactics;the fourth chapter mainly elaborates diverse contents of Ozon's films-the outspoken expression of desire,the evolution of death theme,the plight of the middle class,and the growth of cruel youth;the fifth chapter analyzes the narrative construction of Ozon's films-the diversity of the narrative structure and the distinctive spatial settings(enclosure space or open space);the sixth chapter is an extended reflection on the narrative literariness in Ozon's films.
